Kalawa Jazmee Records has been a pioneering independent record label in South Africa for over 25 years of its existence. It continues to instigate prime new dance music trends and contributed to the evolution of kwaito, afro-pop and house music through Dangerous Combination Crew trading as Kalawa Jazzmee Records.
Since its establishment, Kalawa Jazmee Records has created and launched unknown artists into headline acts that tops music charts with record breaking sales one after the other. This puts this record label into contemporary history as a youth music heritage institution like no other.
Kalawa Jazmee Records has been a home to generations of prolific artists and legendary groups like Trompies, Boomshaka, Mafikizolo, B.O.P, Bongomuffin, Profesor, Uhuru, Zonke, Dj Zinhle, Black Motion, BigNuz, Busiswa and Vigro Deep among others.
Kalawa Jazmee Records empowered artists like Black Coffee and DJ Tira to kickoff their careers in the music business by establishing their record labels Soulistic Records and Afrotainment respectively through licensing their music when they were unknown.

”“Kalawa Jazmee Records is one of the preeminent music stable in the country with over 25 years of discovering, producing and managing some of South Africa’s best known and best loved music stars. It is an independent South African label that was instrumental in the development of the musical style later to be known as "Kwaito". The record label’s role not only helped shape the face of the local music industry but also served as the backdrop of the country’s transition to democracy.”
